My caches for the SCC 2010 have been submitted for approval.
6 caches - one in each zone

Multi
Regular
HandCrafted
Micro
Nightcache
Puzzle

Only one ended up close to another cache (0.23 km) the rest were 1.5 km or greater - most >3 km

Anyone else having problems getting any response fro geocaching.com about caches submitted for the SCC 2010.  Mine have been in for a week now with no response?

Well, in the good old days, we were told to expect a ten day turn around. We've always been spoiled with fast approvals up here. I guess this is just a bit of a warning for us not to wait until the last minute to get our caches submitted, eh?

Well, it is still 2 months until the event, so will continue to wait.  I am still working on a few of the cache containers.  I will be putting them all into place on March 31/April 1 when we are in Thunder Bay.

I sent a reminder about my caches today and got a response from CacheMinder thanking me for reminding him.  He had them in parked in a bookmark list.  He is going to review them later today.

I'll let you know later today.

Now I need to get my caches containers prepared (late today)

Why is it We hate rules ? This year we can only put 1 cache in each zone??? Is this for real? Are you joking?  ;)

Ok now that I vented  >:(, and thanks to JLee for getting the amount of zones reduced  :D, but is it possible that we can put more than 1 hide in a zone  ???? I don't give a rats Arse  :o about points or winning, just want caches in an area that we think are deserving of a cache that fall into the rules of being 25 k.m's from bow and arrow central. :o

Lots of swear words. OK. On to another location. Stupid laws, stupid rules. ;) Anyone near hazlewood lake? Going to a spot we had last year after cardio rehab tomorrow, but it was not allowed last year. Only one eh? what a shame.

Is there a listing of results or statistics available from the SCC 2009 event?  I believe I read that JungleBus was the eventual winner, but I'm just curious if there is a summary for the cachers involved.  Stats such as how many hides they made, how many finds each made, the numbers of FTFs - you know those types of things.  I'm not at all looking at it from the competition side, just curious to see how active everyone was, and who maybe won awards for favourite cache, were there any caches not found? etc, etc.  Our only goals are to have lots of fun, try and pass that fun on to others and to maybe not finish last. ;)  Although with an event like this, how can anyone lose?  ;D

You can find a full list of the caches involved in the Archived - SCC 2009 section. Its at the bottom of the forum listings.

There were 68 total caches. If memory serves me correct we had 2 go down the day before the challenge and I think only 1 that noboby found. Junglebus were the winners with 42 finds, a couple of FTF's and 5 hides. The most caches found by one person was 43 by me  ;D. I believe that Hunter-Killer took the top cache award with Marathon Man.

I seem to think the top 3 were:
1. Junglebus
2. ShroomAzoom
3. ChrisDom & WanderingMan (tie)

There was a full listing of all this somewhere, but I think it may have been lost when Shroom created the new homepage system. So unless he has it somewhere this is about all I can tell you.

Re: Stats from last year, Jenn had a big, HUGE sheet of paper that had a grid with all the cachers and all the caches, who hid what, who found what, FTFs, everything. I don't recall if I ever HTML-ized it for the site or not. If I did, it's probably around somewhere. I'll look.

Just thinking about H+K's question about more than one hide per zone, too. There is a provision for an extra cache (in Zone 1) if you've hidden four other caches. I said Zone 1 specifically, because folks generally want to hide more caches in the city than in the country. However, if someone wants to take their extra hide and hide it in a Zone 2 or Zone 3 area, I'm cool with that.  8)

I've got several unactivated geocoins and TBs (and maybe a few gift certificates) kicking around.
I'd like to add a new challenge to the NWOGs (sAz, you can add this to the SCC home page, if you wish).

Many of the areas/greenspaces that we use for geocaching have been littered :(.  Please bring a bag with you to every cache and take away some of the garbage :).  The way I see it, with more than 50 geocaches and ?50? cachers our bags should get pretty full ;D.

During the SCC, if I see geocachers practicing CITO (Cache In Trash Out) :o, they may end up rewarded for their efforts.

See you on the trails.
