Day five and Mr Pepsi isn't up for an early morning, night cache experience with a -30C windchill. C'mon, it's only 6:45.
I was glad not to see the H+K mobile, nor any tracks at the cache site. I guess it was my lucky day. If you can say that I'm lucky to be up with D.N.F. at 6 o'clock. (Yes, I am lucky to be up with my boy early in the morning.)
Anyway, I'm glad that there are only five "golden micros" and not twelve! Maybe the 12th day of Cachemas will be twelve ammo cans! We're all really enjoying the series Chris. Looking forward to tomorrow's puzzle!

I am surprised that not many cachers are out doing this series. It is a lot of fun, and what better way to spend the Christmas break.

Too far for a daily trip, but will be heading to Thunder Bay this weekend to drop off our son for a another term at University, so will be looking this weekend. So lets hope for no more snow from now until the weekend, then it will make my job easier to find those caches.
If anything, this series is getting a few people up earlier in the day than would be normal during the week after Christmas.
Happy Holidays

I had to change the pathtag pick up night's name to "Norwest Ontario Geocacher's Pub Night" and remove all mention of pathtags.
GC.com does not permit the advertising
.
I keep stumbling on that rule.

Would love to be out hunting for Christmas caches, but we've haven't been home much until now. And the GPS still isn't working.. I think that will have to be something that hubby does on the holiday!

Chris:
I thought that was why there was no mention of the path tags in the event

I find it interesting that I am only getting hits on the release date for these caches. Maybe everyone is waiting for snow to cover the tracks to create a challenge? I hope the cachers get out there this weekend.

These are the top ten reasons why we send other people to find the cache first:
1. establish a geotrail
2. give us hints to where the cache was actually found
3. read their hilarious stories
4. stay warm at home
5. allows us to use the option "Phone A Friend" if required after
6. experience the adventure in their words
7. to provide weather reports
8. to provide road reports
9. get people out of bed and into the cold early
10. To give people the most excitement that they have had since the previous Cachemas cache was found
and
11. to clear any snow away from the cache location so that the followers MAY find it easier to find after
Oh! that's eleven - Oh! Way - People can add more to this list in the forum

I must say that I am happy with the turn out and dedication for the 12 days of cachemas
. I didn't think it would turn into a mad dash for FTFs (I was picturing a nice afternoon drive out to a cache). I hope that some of the cachers that were busy over the holidays will still get out to find some of the series this winter (finding the "12 days of Cachemas" in July just doesn't seem right
).
If anyone wants to confirm their numbers for tomorrow's puzzle cache, send me an email of your numbers and I will respond tonight. A little hint: the cache is 15mins from Thunder Bay (Memorial Ave and Harbour Expressway intersection).
Good Luck and see you at the Pub Night Event.

This series has been so much fun. This is actually the first time we have had "The twelve Days of Christmas" off. Normally we would be working. To meet the same people out every day shows their dedication and love of the game. -40 in the dark looking for caches is something that we have all enjoyed
. The FTF's and the caches are a bonus to some really nice spots. -40 climbing up a cliff at 9 a.m at Pass Lake on New Years Day ? Fun. To do it with a dedicated group of cachers with one heck of a sense of humor ? Priceless. I encourage other cachers to give this series a whirl, it is a blast.

Well, spikybeagle and I (with help from scollins for the first 3) found 6 of the series on Sunday and the other 5 today. Only had problems with Day 4, which looking at Day 6 puzzle I probably could have guessed the correct number. So I didn't have to go back to Day 4 today and then back into Thunder Bay for Day 6, H-K gave me some help and indirectly confirmed my suspicions for the number. So I picked up Day 4 on the way back to Marathon. It was an easy find this time. There sure is a mess out there where everyone was trying to find that cache.
Anyway, it was easy getting to all of the caches with the Geotrails, even Day 2 when the last find was Dec. 26. So I would like to thank all that came before me for leading the way. I got Day 11 about 10:15 am this morning so avoided the Olympic Flame and any stopped trains. Went to Day 2 first today since it was the closest to our hotel and came down the back roads to Day 11. But we had to wait until the parking lot for Day 11 was cleaned out by the grader. It sure looked like some people were having problems turning in the parking area for Day 11. No problems after we came back from finding Day 3.
We also picked up 4 other caches while we were in the city. Too bad we couldn't stick aropund to get Day 12 tomorrow, but we had to get back to Marathon (well not really) We will get that cache when we are up to Thunder Bay for the event on Jan 16

Thanks to ChrisDom for his 12 Days of Cachemas. I enjoyed watching the race for the FTF and reading the logs. It was fun -- even from a distance!
