Contrary to what it says in Shroom's listing of the rules in this site, the race officially ends at 11:59 pm on
May
31, 2010. At that time, the scores will be totalled and the winners announced. The $5 fee per coin that was levied will pay for some small prizes that will be handed out at some sort of a pub event shortly after that.

Oh, sorry, I've been under the impression that the race was over March 31, 2010.
Yeah, I know it makes the race not quite a year long, but what I was thinking when I set that date was that it would give us a good excuse to get together a month (or so) before the Spring Cache Challenge to hand out prizes (Jenn was thinking of using the entry fees to get gift certificates) and taunt each other with our plans for hides. And we could get together on April Fool's day!

I thought the intent was to see how far things would go in a year - ergo, the May date. It doesn't really matter to me, but it might just give the rest of us a bit more of a chance to catch up to the leaders........ However, I can see your reasoning.
What do others think?

I would prefer the March 31st date only because that's what I wrote on the instructions in my coin. After the 31st the mission of my coin is set to change.

I agree with wandering man - I wrote march 31 on the inside of my card - those were the rules when the coins went out.

Don't look now, but The Pepsis' racing coin has just made a LONG jump to an international location that's a little down under!

We got notification on that nice BIG jump down under....sure hope it keeps going with those cachers. I think they've been around the world and back again!! We would prefer the March 31-10 date as well. That's the date we used when starting the coins and also we like the idea of a get-together in early April before SCC-10.

Here is an updated list of the coins in the race, accurate as of 1430h, August 30. I apologize for the distances being listed in miles, rather than kilometres, but that was what came up when I accessed the coins, and I am too lazy to convert them...
It is going to be pretty hard to beat the Pepsis' mileage...!
Please let me know of any discrepancies. Thanks.

Any category for "Furthest-away-cache-that-I've-found-that-my-coin-has-been-dropped-in"?
One of my two coins just got dropped in a cache in Grand Forks, ND that we found on our way to Sask. this summer. Too funny!

Did we ever come to a concensus on what the final date of the race is? If its going to be March 31st, 2010 I thought I should note that we just passed the half way point of the race!
